Have you heard about Balok? It is a name associated with excitement, big waves and madness. A group of windsurfers from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia tried surfing in Balok during the monsoon season in the 1980s and got hooked. They returned every year and only during the monsoon season when the winds can reach speeds of between eight knots and twenty knots per hour. The locals in Balok called the surfers mad young men for most tourists avoid the east coast of Malaysia during the monsoon season when torrential rains, storms and floods are typical. Well, extreme sports enthusiasts go forth where others turn back from fear or self-doubt. The surfers call their annual pilgrimage the Monsoon Madness Windsurfing Challenge. It has become an international not-to-be-missed event for surfing enthusiasts worldwide.

Stomp the Yard is a lighthearted dance film that features impressive step dancing by lead actor Columbus Short. It is set on the campus of a respectable black university where “stepping” competitions form the centre of social life for students. It depicts the story of a teenager from a rough background who works his way through campus by becoming a part-time campus gardener. His life is transformed, however, when he joins a “stepping” fraternity.

Ball State University

A porn film was released recently. The film is special because the shooting took place in a Ball State University-owned mansion normally reserved for seminars in Muncie, Indiana, two years ago.

The film’s director Christopher Gregory was permitted to use the building for shooting some scenes for a horror movie, but Gregory said turning Vampire Diaries into porn was a last-minute decision. Gregory argued that a film maker should not be reined in creativity; furthermore, nothing in the film identifies the university.

2007 Hito Awards, Leehom and Jolin Wins Hito’s “Best Male/Female Artist” again. Jolin Tsai won a total of five awards
a) “Hito’s Best Female Artist”
b) “Hito’s Most Popular Female Artist”
c) “Hito’s Longest Album”
d) “Hito’s Most Popular Online Star”
e) “Top Ten Songs of the Year.”

Jolin Tsai had won “Hito’s Best Female Artist” for the fourth time. As the “Hito’s Best Male Artist” was won by WANG LI HONG (Leehom Wang). Both Jolin and Leehom were the winners of last year’s award ceremony as well.

The whole cast did a marvelous job with each of their assign roles. Michael Miu’s CEO character and Bobby Au Yeung’s Chai Foon Cheung were basically the 2 main focus throughout the series. Both did well to bring out their character in the best of anyone’s capabilities: as Michael was so handsome with his cool, collected CEO appearance and Bobby is just so…Bobby! Very versatile character he portrayed.

TVB’s new series, “Dou Cheung Fung Wan” held its costume fitting yesterday. The cast includes Bobby Au Yeung, Jessica Hsuan, Michael Miu Kiu Wai, Bosco Wong Chung Chak and Tavia Yeung Yi.
