With seven Academy Award nominations including Best Picture under its belt, a movie like Babel must have struck a right cord somewhere. The impressive cast line-up includes Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, as well as remarkable newcomers whose performances are so grippingly good that their acting made a mark as much as the rawness of their appearance on screen. Amongst these, Rinko Kikuchi put up a sterling performance as a deaf-mute girl caught in the world of her own pent-up and complicated emotions. Kikuchi, who was not deaf in real life, was a Golden Globe and Oscar nominee. Another supporting actor, Adriana Barraza, was also a Golden Globe award nominee. She played the role of a Mexican nanny who was left to deal with the vulnerable hearts of children in the dysfunctional family of a strained marriage.

Stomp the Yard

Stomp the Yard is a lighthearted dance film that features impressive step dancing by lead actor Columbus Short. It is set on the campus of a respectable black university where “stepping” competitions form the centre of social life for students. It depicts the story of a teenager from a rough background who works his way through campus by becoming a part-time campus gardener. His life is transformed, however, when he joins a “stepping” fraternity.

The whole cast did a marvelous job with each of their assign roles. Michael Miu’s CEO character and Bobby Au Yeung’s Chai Foon Cheung were basically the 2 main focus throughout the series. Both did well to bring out their character in the best of anyone’s capabilities: as Michael was so handsome with his cool, collected CEO appearance and Bobby is just so…Bobby! Very versatile character he portrayed.

TVB’s new series, “Dou Cheung Fung Wan” held its costume fitting yesterday. The cast includes Bobby Au Yeung, Jessica Hsuan, Michael Miu Kiu Wai, Bosco Wong Chung Chak and Tavia Yeung Yi.

TVB’s new 80 episode series, “Jewel’s Splendor” 《珠光寶氣》 held its costume fitting.
Gigi Lai and Charmaine Sheh have always been producer Chik’s favourites, however, because Charmaine has taken part in “Drive of Life”, thus, Chik has replaced Charmaine Sheh by Linda Chung who is well-known for her obedience.

The actresses wore $48.81 million (HKD) in jewels, totalling 423.5 carats. The three lead actresses Gigi Lai, Ada Choi, and Maggie Shiu play 3 sisters in the series. Their diamonds alone were worth $35.7 million (HKD). There was heightened security at the studio due to the invaluable jewelry.

Chinese superstar Gong Li will be making her third appearance in a major Hollywood movie when she stars in “Hannibal Rising”, the prequel to the “Silence of the Lambs” and “Red Dragon”which will be release on February 9th, 2007.

Hannibal Rising (2007) is the fifth film (after Manhunter, The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon) about Dr. Hannibal Lecter and a prequel to Red Dragon, The Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal. It is an adaptation of Thomas Harris’ 2006 novel of the same name and will tell the story of how Hannibal becomes the infamous serial killer of the previous films and books. This prequel shows a young Hannibal Lecter in three different phases of his life: from childhood in Lithuania, to his teen years in France, up to his arrival in North America.

Choi Ji-woo pretty Korean drama queen, is coming back with her new MBC’s drama “Air City” in 2007. “Air City” will air in May and June 2007, breaking a three-year hiatus.

Choi Ji-woo is the most famous Korean actresses in Asia. She has not been acting 2003. Her last performance on television was in the SBS drama, “Stairway to Heaven”.

The story of Air City is based on the aviation industry, and most filming will be done at Seoul Incheon International Airport. Choi will be playing a highly successful department manager, but problematic with her love life.
