Below is the list of toys listed as the worst toys in 2006. The list came from the WATCH website ( http://www.toysafety.org ).

1. Heelys

These popular shoes, which have “removable” wheels in the heels, turn children’s sneakers into a type of in-line skate. The manufacturer cautions that Heelys “can be dangerous”, yet these items are marketed to children who are unprepared for their associated risks. Moreover, since these “skates” are also marketed as footwear, they are often sold and used without any protective gear.

The beauty pageant contestant strides coolly down the runway in the tiniest of red swimsuits, taut abs, toned biceps, trim legs . . . and, ahem, hairy. This is the Omega Man, a beauty pageant organized in the University of New Mexico campus. It is a fund-raiser sponsored by UNM’s Alpha Chi Omega sorority to benefit the New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The contestants are guys, in fierce competition to be crowned for the best looking, nattiest, smartest, funniest and most talented dude of the campus.

This contest started four years ago with only participation from six brave, wild and crazy guys from several fraternities. The audience loved it and as word of the contest got around, the prospect of being crowned Omega Man became, to many, irresistible.

The most famous “sex-change” case to go to court was that of England’s April Ashley. She had been born with male genitals but was psychologically female, she was a transsexual. She hated her penis and in 1960 underwent an operation to remove the visible signs of maleness; strictly speaking this was not a change of sex, since all she had accomplished was to remove the visible evidence of her genetic sex.
