The celebrities go to jail or potentially going to jail for drunk driving just keeps on growing, from Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and now, Lindsay Lohan. After a week leaving 45-day rehab program, Lindsay Lohan is now facing criminal charges for a drunk driving accident in connection with car crash back in May. Lindsay Lohan, 21, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday after her convertible struck a curb, and investigators found a small amount of drug tentatively identified as cocaine in her car. He declined to say where the drug was found other than to say Lindsay Lohan was not carrying it.

Lindsay Lohan went to the Beverly Hills Police Department late on Thursday to be fingerprinted, photographed and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run. She was released after the booking procedure and given an August 24 hearing date. Authorities will decide later whether to charge her.

The May 26 incident in which Lindsay Lohan was joy riding with two friends of hers in her 2005 Mercedes SL65 convertible when lost control of her sports car and drove into a hedge on Sunset Boulevard around 5:30am. She then jumped into a second car and left the scene. This is where the hit-and-run charges stem from, though Lindsay’s charge is a misdemeanor. Immediately after the May crash, Lohan checked herself into a Malibu rehab center for the second time in a year. She left last week and now wears an alcohol monitoring bracelet on a voluntary basis.

The crash was her third accident in about two years. In October Lindsay Lohan and a passenger received minor injuries when her convertible hit a van in West Hollywood. Authorities said the van driver, who also received minor injuries, was at fault.

Beverly Hills police said Lindsey Lohan’s blood alcohol exceeded the legal limit of 0.08 percent at the time of her arrest, but would not give the exact level of alcohol found in her blood test.
