An Australian doctor delivered a baby in mid-flight with just a basic first aid kit. Furthermore, the baby was delivered feet first in the complicated breech position. The doctor wondered at one point if he had needed to do a caesarean, would he have had to use a plastic knife? How about the umbilical cord? His assistants were the nervous and shocked crew of the LAN Chile team. The doctor was subsequently rewarded with a first class seat and a bottle of vintage champagne after the ordeal.
The mother, whose water broke during the Trans-Pacific flight, had been unaware that she was pregnant. She insisted that she was not pregnant when the drama began. The Brazilian woman took only minutes to deliver her healthy, bouncing baby. God has his ways and the miracle was truly heart-warming.
