7-Eleven Bans on Spike Shooter Energy Drink
Advice and Guide, Blogroll, Interesting StuffA high school banned a caffeine-packed energy drink and 7-Eleven pulled it from stores after some students said it made them sick and shaky and caused their hearts to race.
Spike Shooter has a warning on the can stating the energy drink is not meant for under 18. In one can, the caffeine is 300 milligrams of caffeine per 8.4 ounces which is as much as 2 or 3 five oz cups of coffee. In the last two weeks, 6 students became ill from drinking it and 2 were hospitalized from one high school in Colorado Springs.
The school asked 7-11 stores to limit sales to students but instead of doing that, 222 stores in Colorado pulled it from the shelves.
Spokewoman for 7-11 said “Because of the concern about the reaction with the kids, and because it was not a recommended product, we told all the stores to take it off the shelves,”
This drink comes with warning labels on it before drinking. Even the website for this drink says Keep out of reach of children and `Begin use with one-half can to determine tolerance’. But the main one is should not be consumed by people taking certain other medications or if they have high blood pressure or a number of other conditions.
I went to the website and this is what i found

Ok when i was 16 i went out and bought this energy drink before going to the club. I had bought two becuase like every person that pays no attention to your health i didnt read anything. i drank one and a half of the cans and it was the best time of my life. You really do have to know yourself in order to drink this. of course if ur just sitting there looking for a pick me up this isnt the right drink, you need to be doing something active like every other energy drink. Now on the better end of the spectrum when i was in iraq in oct. of 2009 i had a case of 24 sent out to me. all my marines had them about a half hour before going to the gym, that was the best workout we had ever done, of course marines pride themselves for working out and are well known for being fit, but i would say this is the best energy drink if used for the right purposes. dont be lazy drinking this energy drink get active and it will prove its use. Also it really helped me stay focused and alert when i went on patrol.
